About the Conference

Where and When?

The Personal Injury and Disability Management National Conference 2021 will be held at the Sofitel Brisbane Central, Queensland from 12-14 July 2021.

The Excellence in Personal Injury and Disability Management Awards and Gala Dinner will be held on Wednesday 13 July 2021.

The Conference

The conference, held every two years, attracts delegates working in the personal injury and disability management industry from all across Australia.

It showcases initiatives that have achieved exceptional outcomes and industry best practice in motor accident (compulsory third party), workers’ compensation, disability and life insurance sectors. In 2021 the focus of our conference is Connect, Discover, Evolve.

Why?

The conference will provide delegates and sponsors an outstanding opportunity to make important industry connections, discover new practices and trends and showcase how the industry is evolving.

The 4 conference streams will highlight the continued importance of putting the client at the centre of all activities and initiatives, the many outstanding developments in mental health, well-being and recovery which assist in a return to life and work for those clients, as well as the continued innovation in injury management, including programs, practices and systems, which assist industry professionals to deliver client support.

Introducing our guest speaker, Lucas Kowalski - Manager Return to Work (RTW) at WorkSafe Victoria.Lucas has held leadership roles in Claims Management, Return to Work and Customer Service and delivered a number of programs of work focused on early, safe and sustainable RTW outcomes supported by a high level of customer service for injured workers and employers. At WorkSafe, Lucas oversees a number of return to work support programs along with the service and framework of the Occupational Rehabilitation provider panel. Introducing our guest speakers, Farah Shams & Matt Elliott. ​Farah Shams is the Risk & Innovation Manager for QBE Insurance Australia's Managed Fund Team. She is also a qualified and practicing Chiropractor with formal qualifications in Personal Injury Management. Farah has been in the injury management industry for over 7 years and has developed a strong passion for assisting people to better their health and quality of life. Matt draws on his 28-year NRL career as a coach and player to motivate people into finding a new lease on life. Matt developed The Change Room after overcoming a serious condition doctors said he'd be stuck with for the rest of his life. Our conference is being held at Sofitel, Brisbane Central and we have preferred rates available for conference attendees.

What measures are PIEF taking to mitigate the spread of COVID-19?

No!  We are all set to go ahead on July 12.

Is PIEF 2021 Brisbane postponed or cancelled?

If COVID-19 restrictions preclude any guests from attending we will provide streaming services of the conference for pass holders.

The Personal Injury Education Foundation (PIEF) is committed to fostering, developing and inspiring talent, by providing quality education and training and professional development programs, events, and initiatives for people working in the personal injury and disability management sectors across Australia.

Established in 2006, PIEF is a not-for-profit, member based organisation, governed by an independent Board of Directors. Members include regulators, insurers and agents in the workers compensation, motor accident (CTP), and disability and life insurance sectors.
